Stop hair thinning

HOW IS PRP HAIR RESTORATION DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PROCEDURES?

The only other hair restoration procedure is hair transplantation via methods like punch-grafting, micro-grafting, or slit-grafting. This is a surgical procedure that removes hair-bearing skin from the back of the scalp and creates grafts to attach to the balding areas. It requires local anesthetic and takes anywhere from four to eight hours with a recovery time of a few days. Other options for hair loss are medications such as Rogaine and Propecia. Rogaine is only 10 to 14% effective and Propecia must be continuously taken to maintain results.

Benefits of PRP for Hair Loss

  • Simple, non-surgical procedure
  • Multiple injections in one treatment
  • Procedure typically takes less than an hour
  • No downtime after treatment
  • Safe, reliable, natural-looking results
  • Autologous treatment (using a substance obtained from your own body)

How PRP Therapy works

During the PRP treatments, a small blood sample is taken from your body and put into a centrifuge or other specialized device that spins at high speed. This process separates platelets from your blood and then injects them into the area that needs to be treated. The injection contains a high 5 to 10 times more concentration of platelets than your natural blood, which doctor’s theorize that it speeds up the natural healing process.

What to expect from a PRP therapy for hair loss or thinning

Most patients require three treatments that are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The Platelets Rich Plasma (PRP) is drawn up into a syringe and injected into areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth. The injections are given over about three minutes and there are about 13 of them. The process can be quite painful because the scalp is very sensitive to injections because it has a lot of blood vessels and nerves.

PRP for hair loss

What is PRP for hair loss ?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy for the hair helps to restore thinning hair, and get rid of baldness. PRP involves taking platelet cells from your blood and injecting them into your scalp resulting in an effective non-surgical solution for regaining your full set of of hair. When a person with Male pattern hair loss (MPFL) or female patter hair loss (FMPL) undergo a PRP session, a reduction in hair loss and increased in hair density. PRP also acts by stimulation of the stem cells present around the hair root. It also improves anchorage of hair to the skin by producing more extracellular matrix. The main purpose of PRP injections for hair restoration is to stimulate inactive hair follicles into active growth. Platelet cells promote healing and accelerate tissue regeneration and new cellular growth.

What are costs of PRP treatments ?

While hair transplant surgeries can cost anywhere from $6,000 to over $20,000, PRP costs several hundred per treatment, with most patients needing three treatments to see full results.
